Elderhostel is an independent, non-profit organization
offering short-term academic experiences for people
over 55. Elderhostel is a friendly, accessible and
secure way to explore new places and challenging ideas.
Programs are challenging and thought provoking, however,
don't require any prior knowledge or formal training.
The cost of a program includes double occupancy lodging,
all meals, classes, field trips, and most needed equipment
and supplies.

Where the Rockies Meet the Rails
Dates: July 8-14, 2008
Tuition: $980 per person, double

Immerse yourself in the bygone era of railroads through classes, field trips, and a dinner train ride through some of the most scenic country in Central Montana. Learn about and see 125 years of railroad history, sites, and landscapes, as well as current operations. Featured in course coverage will be the pioneering Northern Pacific; the once-innovative and now lamented Milwaukee Road, running trains with Montana electricity and copper; and the current busy regional Montana Rail Link. Field trips to the former Milwaukee operation base, a downtown that reflects days of the Milwaukee Road, substations, a former depot, museum and more. Includes lodging, meals, classes, field trips.

Lewis & Clark: Paddling the Majestic Missouri
Dates: August 19-26, 2008
Tuition: $951 per person, double
/ $1041 per person single
Surrounded by Montana's majestic beauty, canoe into
the world of Lewis and Clark on a stretch of the wild
and scenic upper Missouri River. Expert instructors
will guide you as you canoe and camp along 47 miles
of the Missouri. Study the history and geography of
this unique river area and experience landscapes and
sites of the Corps of Discovery inhabited on their
expedition. Witness the same "scenes of visionary enchantment" they
observed. The river route begins at Coal Banks Landing
in Virgelle, 70 miles northeast of Great Falls, and
continues to Judith Crossing.
Tuition includes lodging, meals, canoe rental, instruction.
