Minimum and Maximum Enrollment

Some continuing education courses are offered contingent on a minimum number of learners. If the minimum enrollment for a course is not met, the course may be cancelled. Tuition and fees are fully refunded when a course is cancelled. Enrollment may be limited and applicants will be notified if not accepted into a course.

Top

Materials Policy

Most courses will not provide a refund on materials.

Top

Graduate Level Course

Courses numbered 500 and above are considered graduate level courses. Students wishing to take a graduate level course must be a graduate student (degree seeking or non-degree seeking) or must petition the Graduate Office if an undergraduate student. The petition must be filed in the Graduate Office prior to registering for the course and petitions could be denied due to the student's ineligibility. A student failing to follow these requirements will not receive credit for the course.

Top

Auditing a Course

Requests to audit a course are only accepted through the second week of the course and must be approved by the instructor. Students must submit their request to the instructor. If approved, the student and the instructor should contact the registration coordinator at 406-994-7027 or ContinuingEd@montana.edu regarding any change of status. Please note that there are no reduced tuition rates for students auditing courses.

Top

Registration Priority for Sponsored Courses

Registration priority for sponsored online courses may be given to students who have never taken a sponsored course.

Extended University will abide by the Montana State University policy regarding students who are called to military and/or emergency service. Under extraordinary circumstances and with appropriate documentation, Extended University will refund 100% tuition to students who are delayed or disrupted by their official/emergency duties from attending classes as scheduled.
