Videoconferencing
Is Videoconferencing Right For Me?
What are the benefits of videoconferencing?
Videoconferences take less time, energy and money to hold than face-to-face meetings - especially when there are expensive travel costs to condider. Videoconferencing means that your team or group can meet more often and on shorter notice than would be possible with conventional meetings.
Videoconferencing allows "real time", live visual contact between participants
and facilitator or among participants at different sites. And, unlike audioconferencing (phone), videoconferencing allows for a visual connection and more natural interaction among participants which enhances understanding
and overall comprehension. Videoconferencing can improve
retention and help facilitators appeal to a variety
of learning styles. Facilitators can include video
clips, graphics and computer applications such as PowerPoint in each presentation.
What is videoconferencing typically used for?
When you have two or more groups of people in separate locations and
the need to meet and share information videoconferencing can bridge the distance. The cost savings involved in conferencing participants instead of forcing everyone to travel and gather in one physical location can save significant time and travel costs.
Videoconferencing can be used in a variety of situations where two or more
groups want to meet. At the Burns Technology Center we have arranged videoconferences
across the state, nation and internationally for the following:
- Meetings
- Consultations
- Distance learning courses
- Demonstrations
- Presentations
- Job interviews
- Depositions
- State public forums
- Group collaborations
- Guest lectures
- Training
