Technical Capabilities

Burns Technology Center

Video Conferencing:

  • ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network) Utilizing H.320 protocols to make a videoconference connection. Multiple rooms ranging in size from 15 to over 200 seats.
  • IP (Internet Protocol) H.323 video uses commodity internet and Internet 2 connections. Montana State University is a member of the Internet 2 consortium. Multiple rooms ranging in size from 10 to 200 seats.
  • Multi-Site IP Video bridging is available through the center’s own facilities as well as with the Montana METNET system and commercial venders.
  • Portable IP video conferencing is also available for use at remote locations with suitable bandwidth capabilities.
  • Access Grid Node - Multiple site video, audio, data applications using Internet 2 bandwidth. Room capacity 10 seats.

Satellite Downlink Capability:

  • Fiber connections to KUSM, the public broadcasting TV station on the campus, allows for satellite program reception in various locations in the center.

High Tech Meeting and Class Rooms:

  • Multimedia equipped classrooms and amphitheater ranging in size from 30 to 200 seats can be utilized for meetings and events.
  • Large format rear-projection screens and hi-fi sound systems are available
  • WiFi access throughout the center
  • Document cameras, digital slide projectors and wireless microphones are are available in many venues.
  • DVD and VCR players are also provided.

Wireless Internet (WiFi):

  • 802.11.b/g access in Engineering & Physical Sciences building as well as in other campus-wide locations.

Mobile Laptop Classroom:

  • 16 WiFi enabled laptops are available for use in multiple rooms within the facility.

Video Streaming:

  • Quick Time - Real Time Streaming Player (RTSP) management and support are available via the center's Apple OS X and Windows based central servers and network infrastructure.

Analog to Digital Conversion:

  • Video and Audio editing services are available on a time and materials basis.

Large Format Printing:

  • Up to 3' X 4' high resolution ink jet poster printing services are available

WebCT:

  • Campus-wide online learning software platform
