Microsoft donation supports MSU outreach projects
August 7, 2007
BOZEMAN – Montana State University’s Burns Technology Center has received a software donation from Microsoft worth nearly $200,000.
The software will contribute to the BTC’s goal of using technology to help people in Montana benefit from the research, creativity, outreach and educational programs that emanate from MSU.
The donation will support several programs, including BTC Studio 1080, a multimedia complex in the EPS building where visitors can view MSU films, photos, animations and touch-screen educational programs on giant plasma screens; and EPSCoR Synergy, an outreach project that is part of the National Science Foundation infrastructure-building grant on hydrogen and the environment, and large-river ecosystems.
Other BTC outreach projects supported by the Microsoft donation include a Web-based rich media resource library for entrepreneurs; training for rural emergency workers; an Arabic-language distance learning program; and science camps for high-potential junior high-aged students.
