The Summer Youth Orchestra Workshop (SYOW) is a is a unique music camp for high school string players. It is a conductor-less ensemble, relying on the inner cohesion of the group and the leadership of its Concertmaster, Johan Jonsson.
With enrollment limited to 20 students, the Workshop offers each member individual attention and the opportunity to develop his or her musicianship and leadership potential. The small size of the orchestra allows for concerts in a variety of venues in Bozeman and the surrounding area, from coffee houses and restaurants to churches, parks and concert halls.
The Workshop is held on the campus of Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana. All rehearsals take place in Reynolds Recital Hall, a concert hall known for its wonderful acoustics.
